Tech Tip of the Month: You can Generate Reports Using Any Data Elements in DocMagic

Using any of the data elements in DocMagic, you can generate your own customized reports. Do you want to know how many loans one of your correspondents has originated in one month before even having received all the loan documents for that month? Or, would you like to know how many fixed-rate loans you originated in one week? Or, how about how many loans you made in Houston, Texas? You can generate reports to answer these questions and more by customizing your own reports. The types of reports that can be generated from the data elements entered in DocMagic are almost limitless.

There are three different ways to generate reports. You can utilize one of DocMagic's built in reports, create your own report using DocMagic for Window's report generator, or request a custom report from DSI's Customer Service Department. DSI staff will be happy to assist in the creation of your custom reports. Just specify the criteria, data output and the frequency of processing/delivery. DSI's programmers will define your report based on the given criteria. Reports can be delivered to you in XML, ASCII, .csv, HTML or PDF file formats. Depending on your internal system's capabilities, report data may also be imported into your own system, allowing for additional integration options.

If you are using DocMagic for Windows (DMW) or DocMagic Online (DMO), you may access DocMagic's pre-defined reports from the DocMagic website. Select the My Account option under the Web Services tab and enter your email address and password. Once you are logged onto the Account Administration page, click on Generate a Report under Report Manager. Pre-defined reports include a 1098 report, a loan closing, and a HMDA Report prepared in the required HMDA data format. If you would like us to create a custom report, just contact our Customer Service Department.

DocMagic for Windows users have the ability to run pre-defined reports or define customized reports by using the application's report generation system. Six (6) pre-defined reports are available: 1098, Broker Listing, CHAFA Daily Loan Report, Monthly Closed Loans, FHA Loans for the Month and Interest Rate Report. If these reports do not provide exactly what you need, you can define new reports or make changes to the pre-defined reports so that they contain information to meet your specific needs.

Here's how:

  1. First, start at the Worksheet menu on the DocMagic toolbar.
  2. Next, go down to the option called Worksheet Report Menu.
  3. Then choose Define a Report.
  4. On the following screen, input a new report ID and begin defining your report.
  5. You can now write a Report Description, and choose which fields you want to base your report on and how to sort them.
  6. When you finish adding fields, click on the save icon, then click on Run Report.
  7. If you would like to view the report before it prints, choose NO when asked if you would like to send to printer.
  8. After you finish viewing, you can print from within the Report Viewer.

If you wish to run one of the pre-defined reports, do the following:

  1. First, start at the Worksheet menu on the DocMagic toolbar.
  2. Next, go down to the option called Worksheet Report Menu.
  3. Then choose Run a Report.
  4. Then choose the report you wish to run.
  5. If you would like to view the report before it prints, choose NO when asked if you would like to send to printer.
  6. After you finish viewing, you can print from within the Report Viewer.

As you can see, there are many ways to access the data contained in your DocMagic software. If you have any questions on generating reports, please contact DSI's Customer Service Department at (800) 649-1362.
