Earlier this year, the Oregon legislature passed, and the governor signed, House Bill No. 2029 which would make an update to the recording requirements in the state. Currently, Oregon requires a minimum 8-point font on all instruments presented for recording. House Bill 2029 will update the requirement to a minimum 10-point font size. The bill will be effective January 1, 2024, at which point any document presented for recording must meet the new minimum font size requirement.
DocMagic’s standard font size for documents is already a 10-point size. However, DocMagic forms utilize a “shrink-to-fit” functionality to assist in filling long data strings within a small defined space. DocMagic forms use a lower limit of font size when using this functionality which would currently allow a shrink-to-fit size down to an 8-point size for longer data strings. As a result of this change, DocMagic will be updating all recordable forms in Oregon to utilize a 10-point size as a lower limit as of January 1, 2024.
