Over the past few months, Fannie Mae has issued several announcements pertaining to the Home Affordable Refinance initiative that addresses the Refi Plus and DU Refi Plus options. Fannie Mae is further enhancing these refinance options by providing additional flexibility to broaden the population of borrowers that are eligible to refinance. FNMA Announcement 09-20 describes the following changes: Permitting certain transactions that were not identified by Desktop Underwriter (DU) as eligible for DU Refi Plus to be manually underwritten according to Refi Plus requirements; and Updating the Refi Plus and DU Refi Plus eligibility requirements that pertain to the allowable forms of credit enhancement on the existing Fannie Mae mortgage loan.
